Of course, some shows were more shoppable than others, and of them all, Matthieu Blazy's Chanel debut was the most tempting. I've actually never once bought anything from Chanel, but Blazy's freshman collection will be the one responsible for changing that. With so much happening in the world around us, our phones constantly buzzing with alerts about another piece of bad news, it felt like a welcome reprieve to see fashion that felt optimistic and full of joy for once, instead of muted and minimalist. It wasn't just bright colors, either. Though, those certainly did show up at Tom Ford, Jacquemus, and Chloé. Better, however, was the overall fresh energy, with floral patterns big and small mimicking the start of a new season for top houses like Chanel, Bottega Veneta, and Balenciaga. This feeling of delight was perhaps best seen at Blazy's Chanel debut, when he stepped out from behind the metaphorical curtain to receive his standing ovation from the awed crowd, as well as an ear-to-ear smile and hug from his first Chanel bride, played beautifully by Awar Odhiang, who donned a skirt covered in a feathery melange that met the moment immaculately.

Advanced Layering

While designers are presenting silhouettes and ideas that are entirely new this season, they’re also challenging us to rethink how we’re wearing the clothes that are already sitting in our closets. Inventive styling on the runways brought the most dialed-back staples such as button-down shirts, pencil skirts, and gloves together in fresh ways that breathe new life into them with layering. At Loewe, poplin shirts were worn one on top of the other in too many layers to count. At Prada, button-down shirts, sheer skirts, exposed underwear, and stackers were sandwiched together. At Versace, cardigans were tied around the waist, fanning open from where a single button was secured at the top. This will shake up personal style and open up an aspirational way to dress with advanced layering.

About the Coat

The best part about winter dressing is that, if in possession of a really great (preferably, really long) coat, you can basically wear anything underneath with nobody the wiser about its quality. Sweatsuit? No problem. Leggings and an oversize sweater? No one has to know. It's every fashion person's trick, one that's been in practice for years, but rarely do we see it put to use post-March. Once spring hits, our coats go into storage and out come lighter layers, and eventually, no layers at all. For spring 2026, however, designers clearly wanted to change that, debuting hero coats with the power to become your entire outfit, even when temperatures are above freezing. At Tom Ford, apple green and sleek burgundy trenches did all the work of a whole ensemble entirely on their own, while Saint Laurent models strutted outside the Eiffel Tower in sporty yet sleek trench coats made of billowy bylon that spoke for themselves. It seems like the rest of fashion is finally picking up what Anthony Vaccarello's been putting down at Saint Laurent for the last few seasons, which is 1980s-inspired, well, everything. Think big shoulders, small waists, pussy bows, and punchy colors and patterns, ranging from loud florals to more refined polka dots. The French house leaned into the era even further for spring 2026, with Vaccarello pulling from Rive Gauche archives, combining flowing fabrics and bold colors to dress "enigmatic women asserting their power," according to the show notes. For anyone looking to spark a little spring fling as the days grow longer and the air turns softer, look no further than this season's main love interest: romantic, delicate lace slip skirts.

Ana's take on the skirt: "I've had my eye on his lace slip skirt from J.Crew for a couple of months now, so I was so excited to try it on. Spoiler alert: I did like it, but I have some caveats. If you’re on the taller side, make sure to check your measurements. Being 5'9" with larger thighs, I wish this piece were slightly longer to accommodate my height. Other than that, though, it was perfect in my book. The romantic detailing of this skirt with the subtle, monochromatic lace at the bottom pushes this piece from boring to beloved in my book."

Styling tips: Especially for a mini lace slip skirt, opt for a structured jacket or top to balance out the skirt's romantic details. A lace slip skirt practically works with any shoe style, but according to Ana and her casual, laid-back style, she felt most comfortable dressing down the item with a pair of metallic sandals from The Row. Just because something feels date night–ready doesn't mean it always has to be dressed up to the nines!

This lace slip skirt by J.Crew has many things we love about it—the price point, the size range, and the colorways are all bonuses in our book. J.Crew's Gwen and Gwenyth Slip Skirt line already has some die-hard fans, so it's no surprise that this slip skirt from the brand comes on top if you're itching for something a bit more trend-forward from the elegant American brand.

Next up to the challenge was Senior Fashion Editor Eliza Huber, styling Diotima's Coverley Crocheted Silk-Satin Midi Skirt. Unlike some of the other lace slip skirts on this list, this one feels a bit more atuned to a chic beach vacation than the streets of New York (although Eliza assured us she wouldn't have a problem wearing this skirt anywhere!). Eliza's take on the skirt: "I'm a big fan of the lace-trim slip skirt trend that's been rising the ranks in fashion over the last few months, and when I like a trend, I want to try it in as many versions as I can get my hands on. I own the J.Crew version in black and love it, but appreciated the unique lace design of this Diotima red alternative. It's almost a mix of lace and crochet, making it a really fun and different option for spring and summer, especially paired with a matching bikini top on vacation or a simple white tee on a warm city day. At the same time, you don't have to pack it away for fall. I wore it with a gray cashmere sweater and brown leather bomber, proving it's a 365-days-a-year purchase."

Styling tips: Just like Eliza suggested, this skirt would go perfectly with anything in your closet (or in your packed luggage, if you're wearing it on vacation!). Instead of going full vacation mode, Eliza chose to style it with her favorite gray slouchy sweater, vintage-inspired statement earrings, and fiery red Mary Jane flats from Bally.

Rachel Scott, the founder of Diotima, is a longtime Who What Wear favorite, so it's no surprise to see one of her skirts rank high on our list of springtime buys. Thanks to this skirt's elastic waistband and crochet detail, it feels casual enough to wear on repeat as the temperatures rise. The 100% satin skirt comes in four sizes (1 to 4), accommodating sizes US 0 to US 12.

Last but not least, fashion editor Sierra Mayhew took on the challenge of styling an asymmetrical Dries Van Noten skirt for our lace slip skirt edit, working with casual pieces she wears daily to transform this eye-catching skirt into an approachable piece you can rotate in and out of your wardrobe with ease. Sierra's take on the skirt: "Of all the things I tried on for this story, the item I wanted to take home with me the most was this showstopping skirt from Dries. It simply was the outfit. You could style it with the simplest pieces, and it will just take over an entire room. The asymmetrical hem was something worth staring at, and looked even better when paired with power boots. If you want to see something even sweeter, check it out in pink."

Styling tips: Let the skirt do all the talking. Sierra opted for a simple white tank to emphasize the skirt's chic construction, putting all of her attention on her bottom half. The addition of a pair of knee-high leather Khaite boots took the skirt from completely delicate to a bit more of a nuanced look.

Everything Dries Van Noten touches turns into gold. Although the Belgian designer stepped down from the namesake label late last year, Van Noten's touches can still be felt throughout the brand's current offerings, especially in the brand's whimsical, free-flowing pieces. This asymmetrical skirt is a staple of the brand, coming in various color combinations and patterns, with an option for every taste. A drawstring waist makes this a winner in our book, though, making sure you're able to fit and feel comfortable in the skirt, no matter your size.

I think we can all agree that spring is the perfect time of year to invest in a new dress. But if you're like us, you probably have enough white linen dresses and are wondering what else is out there for 2025. The answer is draped dresses. These dresses, typically made of soft jersey knit or silk that's beautifully gathered, are what all the fashion people and chicest celebrities are wearing this season. And because there are so many different ways to design the placement of the draping, it's not a trend that all ends up looking the same, such as, say, a square-neck shift dress. The color is absolutely striking—a huge win in my book, especially as someone who often retreats to whites, blacks, and grays for their daily wardrobe. I loved the draping effect of this Kallmeyer dress, and, although it’s a soft jersey fabric, the effect makes it feel 10 times more elevated and chic."

Styling tips: This dress makes such a statement that you don't need much else when wearing it. A pair of modern kitten-heel pumps and bold silver earrings completed the look in this case.

Aside from the beautifully draped neckline, beneath the drop waist (another trend that's still going strong) is more draping in the form of a gathered skirt that moves beautifully as you walk. The jersey fabric is mid-weight, so you needn't worry about it being too thin. This is a dress you can wear for occasions as varied as a wedding and Sunday brunch.

If you didn't think a bright-orange dress could be elegant, we're here to prove you wrong. Our fashion editor Sierra tried on this McQueen maxi dress, and orange just might be our new favorite color. Read on to see the unique draping on the dress and read all about it.

Sierra's take on the dress: "Not to be dramatic, but the sight of this dress alone made me want to sprint to the airport and book a trip to Greece. With a dress like this in your carry-on, you are truly going to steal the show. I've slowly started to shy away from color, but it's fun to surprise people and pop out in a dress like this and truly wow the crowd and make a statement. I can occasionally get self-conscious in skintight dresses these days, so that's what I adore about the draped dress trend. It's incredibly flattering as it moves with your body's curves and hits all the right angles with the drapes drawing the eyes all over."

Styling tips: Orange looks stunning with gold, so if you had any doubts about what shoes to wear with this dress, a pair of low-heel metallic gold sandals is the answer. Sculptural jewelry perfectly complements the look.

First of all, we have to talk about this fabric. Think of the soft feel of jersey knit but if it were made of 100% silk. That's what you have here, and as you can see, it drapes exquisitely. Another unique feature of this dress is that it drapes both above and below the waistline, which turns out to be unbelievably flattering.

A special red piece is a wardrobe staple in our opinion, and it turns out that it's jaw-dropping in the form of a red dress. We wanted to include this particular Simkhai one because the wrap-style draping is so innovative. Below, see how it looks IRL on our senior fashion editor Eliza.

Eliza's take on the dress: "I've never been much of a color person, but something about the pop of this red Simkhai dress really drew me in. The detailed draping seemed to somehow break up the shocking nature of the saturated shade, giving it a more wearable feel for the color-averse like me. I wore it with a pair of patent-leather stiletto boots that I tucked into the hem of the dress, likewise creating dimension. I know it seems like 'the wrong shoe,' but just try it next time you're not sure what shoe to wear with a longer dress. It always does the trick."

Styling tips: Perhaps patent-leather stiletto knee boots aren't the first shoes that come to mind when you see this dress, but going with unexpected shoes almost always pays off. As with the other dresses, this one doesn't need much else in terms of styling—just a few sculptural jewelry pieces and you're done.

This long stretch-jersey dress stands out because of its waist tie–adjacent draping, which is a bit of a very effective optical illusion. We also love the modern feel that the short sleeves give the dress. This is the type of dress that no matter where you wear it, you'll get compliments.

Spring weather has a sense of humor, which is why I’ve fully leaned in to the cozy-but-breezy knit as my transitional essential. Heavy coats are too much, T-shirts not quite enough—cue the spring knit, which somehow always gets it just right. This season, our team tried out a range of knits to see what’s actually worth wearing. Ana reached for a brushed-cashmere style that felt like a warm hug on cooler mornings, Eliza went for a classic V-neck (hello, cashmere polish), while I had fun playing around with a knit polo that was surprisingly chic. We're starting off strong. For those of you who are looking for a knit with character, we have a winner for you. Every little detail on this bright-red moment drew us in, and fashion editor Sierra Mayhew couldn't resist giving it a try.

Sierra's take on this knit: "Everyone on set ooh’d and aah’d when this bright knit came out to play. Sweaters are often overlooked this time of year, but they look pretty good if I do say so myself. I love that this style has pretty gold buttons, and the subtle logo patch had a lot of people asking me where it’s from. It’s a nice style to wear with hot pants or throw over your shoulders when styling a fun dress or jeans."

Styling tips: While most would expect to see a sweater like this paired with baggy jeans, shock them all by trying out a pair of hot pants. Micro minishorts deserve a spotlight this season as the perfect styling piece that people shouldn't overlook if they want to make a statement. This is a knit that also looks good thrown over the shoulders on a warmer day.

If retro is your vibe, you're going to love this Bally polo sweater for a bright pop of red that exudes sophistication and comfort in equal measure. Eliza's take on this knit: "I'm very picky when it comes to knitwear, especially cashmere. A cashmere sweater is one of my all-time most-worn items, which is why I've tried and tested so many of them, knowing exactly what feel I like and don't like. This Toteme knit? I liked. The fit, especially, is perfect for my tastes—great for layering a white tee under, my go-to knitwear trick, and just right if you like a little bit of midriff to show. At the same time, it's not so cropped that you couldn't tuck it into a pair of stovepipe jeans or cigarette pants if you wanted to. I wore it with a white tee (duh) and lace-trim skirt, an easy outfit I've repeated multiple times this spring. Did I mention it's deliciously soft? Yeah, run."

Whether your look is intended to be casual or you're planning on getting all dressed up, this is simply how it's done. Mixed metals also came to be a highlight in this look and are always a great way of making an outfit feel experimental or different.

In case you haven't heard, 2025 marks the return of a classic pant silhouette that's been on hiatus but feels quite fresh again. The style is cigarette pants, and it's truly the only pant trend you need to buy this season. As a reminder, they're a tad more relaxed than skinny pants and are typically ankle length. They're incredibly versatile and flattering, and you can wear them over and over without anyone even noticing. These are the reasons why we decided to include cigarette pants in The Great Try-On. Sierra's take on the pants: "When I think of cigarette pants, my mind immediately goes to all of the ill-fitting, uncomfortable pairs I've worn that leave an uncomfortable mark. So you can imagine my surprise when I pulled on this pair from Joseph and strangely felt like I was wearing sweatpants. I am still in a state of disbelief about how comfortable they were. I could've worn them all day and not gotten bored of them. They have pockets, hit at the perfect mid-rise spot, and simply just work."

Styling tips: If your cigarette pants have belt loops, you might as well use them, right? We love how this mixed-metal Déhanche belt and the red Bally Mary Janes gave the pants a trendier feel, and the white tee and Burberry car coat–style trench added a classic spin to the look. This outfit is easy to re-create with any belt, red flats, T-shirt, and trench coat in your closet.

If you've ever wondered what those viral High Sport pants look like on and whether the high price tag is worth it, you've come to the right place. Senior fashion editor Eliza Huber tried them on for you and shared her thoughts.

Eliza's take on the pants: "Fashion people talk about High Sport's pants all the time, but a lot of things people say are just that—talk. I learned from trying out the Jules Pants that the brand's hype is all deserved and 100% real. The fabric is heavy and high-quality without being constricting or uncomfortable. I own a few pairs of more traditional trouser-like cigarette pants and always wish they had more stretch in them. These do. I also enjoyed the very (very!) subtle checker print on the fabric. It feels like an IYKYK detail that just adds some fun to an otherwise classic, sophisticated silhouette. We styled them in two ways: with a pastel button-down shirt worn loose and relaxed and sportier with a Nike anorak. The possibilities are actually endless, and no, I'm not just saying that."

Styling tips: Styling a windbreaker with unexpected pieces is something we're very much into right now, and these pants were just the thing to do that with. The contrast of the casual Nike jacket with the High Sport NSFW Jules pants proved to be a match made in heaven, and the kitten-heel sandals and oversize gold earrings only added to the cool and unexpected styling.

One of High Sport's signatures is the heavyweight, subtle jacquard check fabric it uses, and it really sets these apart from all of the other cigarette pants on the market. The NSFW Jules Pants have a straighter leg than the brand's Kick cropped pants that immediately went viral, but dare we say these are even better? Also, bonus points for belt loops. If you want to spend over $1200 on a pair of trousers, this is the pair to do it with, hands down.

Associate features editor Ana Escalante tried on a pair of ponte pull-on cigarette pants from Fforme, one of our new favorite brands for elevated, modern basics. Read on to get the scoop on the Shim Skinny Pants.

Ana's take on the pants: "Pants that feel like leggings? Sign me up. This pair from Fforme was ultra-comfortable and breathable, and it's well on its way to being my go-to cigarette-pant style of choice. Being 5'9", I expected a more dramatic crop, but honestly, I'm not mad about it. I think these are the perfect length to show off statement sandals or pretty heels for the spring."

Styling tips: One of the beautiful things about cigarette pants like the Fforme Shim Skinny Pants is that they're quite easy to style. A no-brainer pairing is an oversize button-down. You could wear those two pieces with flats and be good to go, but if you want to take things up a notch, belt the shirt and add a pair of elegant slingback pumps. This is an outfit that works for so many occasions.

If you're seeking cigarette pants with an inseam that's on the longer side, these would be a great option. As you can see, they're devoid of bells and whistles and are just really great, simple pull-on pants that you'll reach for time and again for years to come. Arguably, no piece of outerwear has shaken the fashion world in the last year quite as significantly as the leather bomber jacket. Every in-the-know dresser, from stylists to celebrities, owns at least one of them, and you bet it's not hanging in their closet gathering dust. There are at least four draped over the desk chairs of Who What Wear's New York–based editors as we speak, and Hailey Bieber or Bella Hadid is almost certainly wearing one in tomorrow's batch of street style images. You're guaranteed to see at least six iterations of the retro silhouette, ranging from more affordable options by Massimo Dutti to the most coveted of all by Saint Laurent. They're inescapable, but then again, why would anyone want to escape them?

I've always shied away from motorcycle and bomber jackets for some reason—perhaps it's because I'm always scared I'll look too much like a Harley-Davidson-sponsored biker in them. But, truthfully, since trying on this jacket, I've already stopped by The Frankie Shop's SoHo store to officially make it mine. Like most jackets from The Frankie Shop, this one runs a little big, so be sure to size down if you want a piece that feels more structured and less slouchy."

Styling tips: What makes a leather bomber jacket essential is its versatility. It can be dressed up or down, be used as a replacement for a blazer or trench coat, and automatically adds some edge and masculinity to an outfit, making it the perfect piece to pair with traditionally "pretty" pieces, like lace-trim slip skirts. Of course, you can easily go the Saint Laurent route and style a leather bomber jacket with knife-like stilettos, but a casual pair of flip-flops goes with the top layer just as well. This particular bomber by The Frankie Shop has too many cool, unique details to count. From the large pockets to the epaulettes on each of its sloped shoulders, everything about it is intentional. Eliza's take on the jacket: "The leather on this jacket is some of the best-quality leather I've ever worn, something I've heard about Nour Hammour but have never witnessed up close until now. It definitely has a vintage feel to it—similar to the bomber jacket I have of my dad's from the '80s, but with some modern updates. I also appreciated the fit of this style. It's not too oversize but not cropped. It feels just right for wearing either as a top layer or as a top, which is what I did with Chloé bubble shorts."

Styling tips: Since Nour Hammour's Clint jacket does have more of a close fit to it, it's a perfect choice for anyone who wants their leather-jacket investment to double as a top. Just zip it up and style it as you please. No matter what, it'll be the star of your look, whether you decide to wear it with a simple pair of stovepipe jeans, a funky skirt, cigarette pants, or in Eliza's case, a teeny-tiny pair of Chloé bubble shorts. When the weather starts to turn come fall, rework the piece by layering a cashmere sweater and white tee underneath for warmth.

This lamb-leather option has more than just great looks going for it. We did, indeed, save the favorite for last: Saint Laurent's spring/summer 2025 leather jacket, tried on by Who What Wear's fashion editor Sierra Mayhew. Find out if she thought the $6100 '80s-inspired jacket, made entirely of lamb leather, is worth splurging on. Well, that, and see how she styled the camel version of it. Sierra's take on the jacket: "Straight off the runway, this jacket made me feel like I walking around in a work of art. Every detail was exquisite, from the natural fading on the leather to the buttons. A nod to the '80s, the return of the bomber jacket is going to look especially good if it's done in this style. I like how there are two options to wear it, long and undone, or zipped up and folded under. This is the investment piece that is so versatile, it’s worth the scary price tag. Layering it this spring and then breaking it out again come fall is the move."

Styling tips: The rich, cognac color of this leather jacket, a trend we most often see in black or dark brown, makes it a treat to style. You can go so many ways with it, opting for neutrals and wearing a mix of cream and black, or playing with a range of colors, from pastels to richer jewel tones à la Saint Laurent's S/S 25 bohemian maxi dresses. Here, Sierra kept the expensive vibe going with a black pillbox hat adorned with gold hardware and strappy cream sandals. Big gold earrings would be a chic swap, as would some chunky cuff bracelets.
